Trivia Answer picture You're Right!
An exceptional supporting player and occasional lead actress, best remembered as the dictatorial Nurse Ratched in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975), Louise Fletcher saw her rather abrupt fame dissipate somewhat in the light of the relative critical and box office failure of such films as "Exorcist II: The Heretic" (1977) and "The Cheap Detective" (1978). Perhaps equally important, though, was that Fletcher was already middle-aged in a youth-obsessed Hollywood when she won her Oscar for "Cuckoo's Nest"; furthermore, her choices of material and performance styles have often deliberately not been consonant with Hollywood star glamour. Through the 1980s, Fletcher made a series of odd international and independently produced films (e.g., the campy "Two Moon Junction" 1988), sometimes of poor quality and often little seen; her occasional big-budget mainstream Hollywood films, such as "Virtuosity" (1995), have seen her doing her best, but for one reason or another have invariably not come off.
